Our Work: Spreading Warmth and Inclusion

We believe in turning simple acts into real progress. Take a look at what we’ve been doing.

The Work We Do

At Calmnesta, change can start with something as simple as a blanket. Every project—whether raising funds, donating, or advocating—aims to bring dignity and comfort to people with disabilities.
In the summer of 2025, we visited households in Nanjing that had people with disabilities. We saw a variety of struggles that people encountered every day. Their loved ones often struggle to balance work with caring for them, so we decided we had to take action. We visited 20 households in total and donated everyday necessities such as rice, cooking oil, and milk, as well as our Calmnesta blankets. We learned more about the difficulties disabled people face and how we can better help them in the future.
During spring break of 2026, we donated 30 blankets to Tri-Valley Haven. While our mission is mainly to support the disabled community, we recognize the importance of aiding other vulnerable populations, such as domestic violence survivors and homeless individuals. We hope Clamnesta's blanket brings them genuine happiness and comfort in the face of their difficulties.
In June 2026, we visited the Choice of Aging Center at Pleasant Hill. We donated 30 blankets to seniors. The agency remarked, “A huge THANK YOU to Matthew Zhang, Julie Zhu, and the entire team at #Calmnesta for generously donating soft knit blankets for our participants. They are absolutely beautiful, and we LOVE the sage green color!”
In June 2026, Calmnesta partnered with the Danville San Ramon Rotary Club to donate diapers, wipes, formulas, toys, and our blankets to the Bay Area Crisis Nursery. In total, the donation amounts to an estimated $ 4,000 and will help support local families and children in our community. This demonstrates our willingness not only to care for one marginalized population, but also for anyone in need.
This summer, Matthew, the president, continued to visit homes of disabled people. He extended his work into different parts of Nanjing and brought more goods like cooking oil and rice to those in need. Calmnesta Foundation’s purpose is built in these types of activities: bringing warmth to others.

Impacts and Future Outlooks

Overall, Calmnesta has sparked change in the East Bay by using our resources to help those in need. We hope to inspire others who may not yet be involved in community service to step up and take action. In the future, we would like to donate more blankets and other necessities to similar organizations and foundations to continue our mission, and we would also like to educate others in our communities who are not involved or are unfamiliar with the struggles that marginalized communities face.
We sell blankets to raise for our charitable donation projects and hope to have an even bigger impact in the future. The school fundraising event is a great example of a diversified impact. A blanket not only serves as a source of support but also teaches students and the entire community to be more kind and considerate toward the people around them.
What we intend to do is very precise – “Giving”. Each blanket gets to a person that needs it most, providing warmth and saying, “You are not alone, and you are loved.” Partners in nursing homes and community centers help to open doors that we could not reach alone, ensuring no one goes to sleep cold and alone.
Aside from the literal heat provided by the coverings blanets offers, we are committed to building an all-inclusive society. The advocacy vernacular events and community dialogues serve as avenues for sharing compelling narratives and untangling the webs of disability hurdles that people confront on a daily basis. It is our conviction that awareness is the stepping stone towards genuine and sustainable transformation.
